Owing to their excellent material properties such as flame retardancy, chemical inertness as well as excellent dielectric strength, PTFE Liners are eminently suitable for usage in a wide range of applications. Broadly speaking, they can be categorized into natural and filled liners. While natural PTFE Liners tend to exhibit so-called cold flow behavior under pressure, filled PTFE products exhibit significantly higher strength and stability. Filled PTFE products are further provided with different fillers, resulting in PTFE cable liners with varying performance characteristics offered in different price classes. Furthermore, natural PTFE products are particularly suitable for less demanding applications, while filled variants are mostly used in specialized fields.
In general, PTFE Liners are installed in welding wire leads of hose assemblies in all conventional welding equipment, as well as in the majority of conventional welding robots. In both cases, the PTFE products serve as a protective inner layer of the welding spool, which in turn functions to guide the welding material inside the tube to the head of the welding tip. PTFE is ideal for this application due to its high-temperature resistance of up to 250°C combined with its chemical inertness and stability.
In particular, glass-filled PTFE Liners should be mentioned as optimal variants which, in addition to improved stability, exhibit optimized thermal properties. GREMCO, therefore, recommends our FITCO® Liner HP 425 in red color as an excellent product for this application context. Comparable alternative products are our glass-filled PTFE Liner HP 280 or the black-colored FITCO® Liner HP 400, which easily meet the extraordinary requirement profile of welding equipment and welding robot production.
