The requirements for modern exhaust systems in vehicles are becoming increasingly demanding. Lambda probes and exhaust gas temperature sensors are crucial for the precise monitoring and control of emissions. Installed in proximity to the exhaust system, they are exposed to extreme heat and aggressive chemicals. These special requirements demand particularly resistant cabling – GREMCO provides a proven solution for the automotive industry with its PTFE-insulated high-temperature cables.

Lambda sensors are crucial for the optimum mixture of air and fuel. They measure the ratio of both components to optimize fuel consumption and reduce emissions. Exhaust gas temperature sensors monitor temperatures to protect the catalytic converter and other elements. However, both sensors are exposed to extreme conditions such as heat, vibrations, and aggressive fluids, which places special demands on their cabling. The PTFE-insulated high-temperature cables from GREMCO ensure high reliability and durability here.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is the preferred insulation material for high-temperature applications due to its unique properties. It offers a high-temperature resistance of up to 260 °C and is resistant to aggressive liquids. These properties make PTFE ideal for wiring near manifolds and catalytic converters where conventional materials would fail. GREMCO uses PTFE insulation to meet the requirements of the automotive industry optimally and to protect sensors from extreme conditions.

Not only the insulation but also the conductor itself needs to withstand the extreme conditions in the engine compartment. Therefore, GREMCO uses nickel-plated copper conductors, which guarantee high electrical conductivity and are also corrosion-resistant. The nickel plating further protects the copper conductor from oxidation and extends the service life of the cables – a crucial property in high-temperature environments.

Lambda probes and exhaust gas temperature sensors: High demands on the wiring
